Introducing BISC-E

The Bio-based Innovation Student Challenge Europe (BISC-E) is a European innovation competition aimed at undergraduate, master’s, and first-year doctoral students. Its objective is to raise awareness among young talents of the challenges and opportunities of the bio-based economy, while encouraging the development of sustainable, circular, and innovative solutions based on the use of renewable biological resources.

The challenge brings together multidisciplinary student teams who design bio-based products or processes addressing concrete environmental, industrial, and societal challenges, in direct response to the needs of the bioeconomy value chains.

European and national coordination

At the European level, BISC-E is coordinated by the Bio-based Industries Consortium (BIC), which organizes the European final of the competition each year.
In France, BISC-E is coordinated by the CMQE d’Excellence Bioeco Academy, which is responsible for organizing the national selection, supporting student teams, and selecting the project that will represent France at the European final.

The French final of BISC-E 2026 at the Chimie Verte Academy Summer School

The Chimie Verte Academy will host the French final of BISC-E as part of the program of its first Summer School.

This national final brings together students, finalist teams, academic and industrial experts, as well as key stakeholders in the bioeconomy. Students present their projects to a jury, take part in dedicated networking and discussion sessions, and benefit from an immersive experience within an ecosystem focused on green chemistry and bio-based innovation.
